My son is very patriotic and wanted me to make him a *REAL* flag, which translates in our house to one made by me rather than purchased. Its a nice complement.

Here is a pattern for one that is large potholder sized which you could increase in size as long as the proportions stay the same.

Materials: red, white and blue yarns around a half ounce I aluminum crochet hook

Directions: Chain 30 in red. Chain one, turn and single crochet across. Add white, chain one, turn and crochet across sc. Chain one turn and sc across.

Repeat above two more times.

Add blue, chain one, crochet 10 stitches, then crochet rest in red. Chain one, turn crochet 20 then switch to blue and sc across.Chain one, work 10 in blue, switch to white and sc across. Chain one, turn and work in white for 20 stitches, then switch to blue.

Repeat above two more times.

The work one last section in blue and red, thus making thirteen stripes of red and white with the blue square in the left corner.

Embroider stars on blue if desired.

Happy Veteran's Day!

Lil
