7: 7] sts at beg of next 2 alternate rows. Return to remaining sts on st holder and join yarn at neck edge, k 2 tog, k to end. Now work as for right side but reversing all shapings.

SLEEVES (make 2)

With No 6 needles and MC, cast on 38 sts and work in k 1, p I ribbing for 2".

Change to 8 needles and work as for back, inc I st at each end of every 5th [6th: 6th: 7th] row until 60 [66: 72: 78] sts are on needle.

Continue until work measures 10" [12": 13": 15"] from cast-on edge. Bind off.

NECKBAND COLLAR

With Number six double pointed needles and green yarn, start at center and working up toward the neck pick up stitches evenly all around the neck. Work in k I, p I ribbing for 4" [5": 5 1/2": 6 1/2"]. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FINISHING

With a back stitch, join shoulder seams. Pin center top of each sleeve to its shoulder seam, and stretching top of sleeve slightly, pin to side edges of front and back. Sew sleeves in position. Join side and sleeve seams.
