PUMPKIN SWEATER

Measurements: Body chest 22": 24: 26: 28].

Length from back of neck 14" [ 15": 16": 17"].

Figures in square brackets [ ] refer to the larger sizes. Where only one figure is given this refers to all sizes.

Materials:

16 oz of worsted weight yarn in orange ( MC - main color).

4 oz in dark green (B - 2nd contrasting color).

1 pair each of No 6 and No 8 American knitting needles.

BACK With No 6 needles and MC, cast on 72 {78: 84: 90] sts and work in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 2".

Change to number 8 needles and starting with a k row, work in St st.

Cont in striping patt until work measures 13" [14": 15": 16"] from cast-on edge, ending with a WS row.

Shape shoulders

Continue until work measures 9 1/2 inches, bind off 6 sts at beg of next 8 [8: 4: 4] rows, then bind off0 [0: 7: 7] sts at beg of next 0 [0: 4: 4] rows. Bind off rem 24130: 32: 38] sts.

FRONT:

Same as back until work measures 6 " in length.

FACE PATTERN:

Mouth: Row 1: Knit 18:24:30:36 stitches MC. Carry main color behind work and knit 24 in dark green. Knit 18:21:24:27 in main color.

Row 2: Knit 14:17:20:23 in MC. Carry main color behind work and knit 32 in Dark Green. Return to MC stocking stitch across.

Row 3 - 18: Knit 12:15:18:21 in MC. Carry MC in back of work and knit 36 in dark green. Return to MC and stocking stitch across.

Knit even in stocking stitch in MC for 10 rows.

Nose: Row 1- 8: stocking stitch in MC for 29:32:38:44 stitches. Carry MC in back of work and knit 14 in dark green.

Stocking stitch in MC for 10 rows.

Eyes:

Row 1-8: Stocking stitch MC for 13:16:19:22 in MC. Carry MC in back of work and knit 8 stitches in dark green. Stocking stitch in MC for 30 stitches. Knit 8 in dark green. Finish row in MC.

Work as given for back until work measures 11":11.5 ":12" from cast-on edge, ending with a WS row.

Next row K across 24 [24: 26: 26] sts, then slip these sts on to a holder, bind off next 24 [30: 32: 38] sts, k across rem sts. Now cont on last set of sts only. Cont working as before until work measures the same as back to shoulder shaping, ending at side edge.

Shape shoulder

Continue, bind off 6 sts at beg of next row and foll alternate rows. Bind off 6 [6:
