Kid Project: Potholder from old tube socks

Kid Project: Potholder from old tube socks by Lili Pintea-Reed

A wonderful fun project which also terribly ECO is to make a potholder from loops cut fron old tube socks.

Directions:

Take an old (WASHED!!!) tube sock and holding the top end cut sideways loops one inch in width. They will look very much like the potholder loopers one buys in the store.

Take the loops and thread them in the usual manner on a potholder loom. You can find these very cheaply at most discount stores or make one froma wood frame and brads for spacers.

FIRST Row: Weave over one complete loop and under the next acroos the row.

SECOND ROW: Weave over the loops which you wentunder last time and under the top loops from last time. This is called plain or balanced weave -- for the purists.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until potholder is complete.

Finish by passing one loopend over the next rather like single crochet all around the pot holder perimeter. Pull last loop through strongly to make a hanging hook.

Voila! A wonderful fun potholder. My son made this one for Dad's barbeque!
