Easy Knit Skirt Pattern

© Lili Pintea-Reed

To add to your collection of easy cotton knit goods here is a quick little skirt to knit. It is knee length on me, but I'm only five feet tall. It fits a 36 ich hip with lots of ease adjust accordingly to fit you.

Materials:
fingering weight yarn (I used handspun cotton)
#3 needles (american)
(Note: I knit very loosely so you might need to go up a needle size)

Gauge:
9 rows to inch
5 stitches to inch

Front:
Cast on 120 stitches and knit one purl one for ten rows. Continue in for ten rows. Switch to stocking stitch and knit a length which will reach your hip widest point. Start to decrease on each side one stitch per side every other row until you reach 100 stitches. Then knit even until you reach your waist bottom. Then switch to knit one purl one rib for two inches. Bind off.

Back:
Knit the same.

Sew both pieces together and then apply 1 and 1/2 inch wide elastic to the elastic.

Enjoy!
Lili
