Lacey Easter Hat

Here is a quick lacey child's Easter cap for those cool Spring days when you want something on your children's heads, but don't want a heavy cap!

MATERIALS:
3 oz. sport weight cotton or mohair or wool
Number 8 American needles

PATTERN:
ROW 1:Knit one, Yarn over, and then knit two stitches together.
ROW 2:Knit across
ROW 3: Knit across

DIRECTIONS:
Cast on 60 stitches. Work in knit one, purl one pattern for two inches in length.

Change to pattern stitch. Knit one, Yarn over, and then knit two stitches together. Next two rows knit. Work in pattern until the hat measures seven inches in length.

Begin to decrease by knitting two stiches together every third stitch ---ON A KNIT ROW. Work even for an inch. Then decrease as above once again. Repeat decrease until ten stiches are left on needles.Pull yarn through and tie off.

Add tassel if desired.

To make this an adult hat just knit the length longer to suite a larger head.

To make this a baby hat, just use a number six American size needle.
