Writing Something Pretty©
I wanted to put together a bunch of links for moms who are artists, writers, or musicians and are struggling with ways to be a mom and creative. Because mothers are busy people, there wasn't as much out there as I hoped to find.
It's hard being a mom. It's hard being an artist. Put them together and suddenly you're wondering if you're doomed to follow in Sylvia Plath's gassy footsteps. Never fear! There are lots of moms out there who manage to produce things (kids and art) without losing their minds. Just think of Courtney Love! Oh wait, bad example. How about Kristin Hersh then? In any case, you may not get to write the great American novel this year or even this decade but writing in your journal counts. And *this* feminist mother says it's ok to park your kid in front of Sesame so you can get that journal entry done. I've made two sets of links for us: one for moms looking for support and one to showcase the sites of creative moms who are using their homepages to share their work both as moms and artists.
