Ladies and gentlemen, this article is coming to you live via internet from my faaaahbulous palatial hospital bed. Yes, I'm ill. Awww. I saw someone wearing shiny taupe pantyhose and had a heart attack. But it does give me time to reflect upon the most unflattering looks ever created. Of course, this column is inspired by the divine inspiration of all ugly garments: the hospital gown. Enough said.
* The Padded Skirt. Who's brilliant idea was it to wrap a modified comforter around a model's waist and inflict this trend upon millions of women? I put pillows on my bed, not my butt. (Did you know the sale of anti-depressants went up during this trend a few years ago? Was it because it made our hips look bigger, or because the models wearing them still looked skinny?) *Knee-pads/Elbow pads on sportswear. Seriously, who wants to go skateboarding in Donna Karan? *Off the shoulder neckline with ruffles. Reminds me of Carrie at the prom. Sad thing is, I saw them worn by bridesmaids at a wedding last month. * Baggy floral pants. I'm actually not a fan of baggy pants in general. And my mom, who is typing this for me (Hi!) is sad because she owns three pairs of these pants. But crazy floral prints are bad enough. When you pair them with an ugly pant pattern, it makes fashion cry. *Acid-washed denim. Swear on my new shoes, I saw a woman wearing these jeans at Borders last week, searching for books in the Comperative Religion section! She obviously needs some kind of enlightenment. *White orthopedic shoes. All of my nurses wanted me to put this in here. They really want to wear a funky platform, or a soft silk Chinese slipper. Bless their hearts. What's the ugliest thing fashion has put in this world? Leave your horror stories and suggestions on the Discussion board. Offended by one of my suggestions? Leave me a note on the Discussion board, and I'll see you at the bookstore soon! Go To Page: 1
