As this season's vintage trend continues - fox fur collars, dangerously pointy-toed heels, and ladylike suits and coats are still very much in - a new nostalgic fashion silhouette has come into the spotlight. Ladies, let's discuss the full skirt.
Exaggerated A-lines, flares, godets, and circle skirts are coming back strong. This is a good and a bad thing. The good part is that these skirts are undeniable pretty, dramatic, and feminine. They're fun (seriously, stand outside on a windy day with one of these babies, and it's mesmerizing watching the fabric fly). And, they hide big hips. Heck, some of them could hide a school bus. The bad news is, they can be hard to pull off. They're really reserved for more formal wear - don't pair one with your tweed blazer and go to work. You need to be confident in this - this is not a look for the timid, figety, or wallflower type. These skirts make noise when they rustle and require a special way of seating and a babysitter to make sure it isn't caught in the car door. The full skirt is a dramatic way to make an entrance. If you wear it, just be sure it's appropriate for the occasion, it isn't caught in doors or the waistband of your pantyhose, and walk tall (because they can make the short look shorter). But there's nothing else like it - when you think of Cinderella, is she wearing a pencil skirt, or a ballroom skirt? Go To Page: 1
