Most of his books have some elements from myth that makes his works memorable. A taxi driver and photographer encounter the animal people. They are drawn into a battle to save the soul of the city in this book. Another woman author of Mythic Fantasy is Nina Kiriki Hoffman. She writes deeply moving stories of magical people in our world. The Thread That Binds the Bones is the first of her books with mythic overtones. the wedding of two different people with strange magical talents sets off a dangerous ritual that threatens the world. Two young lovers must save the world from the Bolte family. This books sets off many other powerful books from this author's wonderful imagination. Mythic Fantasy is a large sub-genre of Fantasy. Works of this category can be found in the sub-genres of Epic, Contemporary, Dark Fantasy and Magic Realism as well as some in mainstream fiction too. Authors in this sub-genre use the eternal themes of myths to tell new stories that are vivid, memorable and thought provoking. The books touch something deep in readers that resonates with our lives.
