The author recently embarked on a new trilogy called The World Gates. The first book is Memory of Fire. Two women from North Carolina travel to the world of Oria where magic works for humans. Molly is kidnapped one night by strange creatures and taken there. Laura is a widow and single mother with strange powers. She travels to Oria through a mirror. Both find danger, courage and friends to save both worlds. (See previous article for more information on book. The Wreck of Heaven continues the story of Laura and Molly. Laura must travel back to Oria to save her sister and our world from evil dragons. This is an excellent middle book of the trilogy with plenty of action. (See previous article for more details on this book.) The last book will be published in April 2004.
Another stand alone novel is Vincalis the Agitator, which is a prequel to the Secret Texts trilogy. Hars Ticlarim is a beautiful place with a dark underside. The city is kept at its height of glory through Dragon magic, fueled by the sacrifices of human slaves. Three men rise to challenge the rulers of this terrible place. Wraith wants to start a revolution. Solander has discovered a new form of magic and wants to change the way things are done. Luercas will do anything to further his personal ambitions. All three must strive in their own ways to overthrow a millenias old system. Ms. Lisle brings this dark novel to life with vivid images and interesting characters.
Finally, this author has collaborated with other Fantasy authors to create some entertaining books. With Mercedes Lackey she wrote When the Bough Breaks, which is a Contemporary Fantasy of elves that like to race cars. She wrote The Rose Sea with S.M. Stirling about a rancher's daughter and officer that must defy the gods to save their world. Glenraven and In the Rift: Glenraven II are collaborations with Marion Zimmer Bradley. These books take place in a mythical country in our world where magic exists.
