Humans have developed a type of magic to survive in this world. She adds some incredible expertise about sailing in these books that tell of characters using magic to save their world. They are an intriguing addition to the subgenre.

Lastly, is Robert Silverberg's incredible world of Majipoor. This is a world of complex cultures, vast continents and large cities. Humans colonized this world but never conquered it. Magic blends in with technology in vivid tales of the clash of cultures. There are shapeshifters, sea dragons and other incredible creature. Mr. Silverberg's Majipoor books should be read with relish. The series begins with Lord Valentine's Castle. Other books are Majipoor Chronicles, Valentine Pontifex, Sorcerers of Majipoor and Lord Prestimion.
