Janny Wurts is a talented artist and writer. She added to Science Fantasy with Stormwarden, Keeper of the Keys and Shadowfane. Her world was colonized somwhere in the past by space travelers. Humans have developed a type of magic to survive in this world. She adds some incredible expertise about sailing in these books that tell of characters using magic to save their world. They are an intriguing addition to the subgenre.

Lastly, is Robert Silverberg's incredible world of Majipoor. This is a world of complex cultures, vast continents and large cities. Humans colonized this world but never conquered it. Magic blends in with technology in vivid tales of the clash of cultures. There are shapeshifters, sea dragons and other incredible creature. Mr. Silverberg's Majipoor books should be read with relish. The series begins with Lord Valentine's Castle. Other books are Majipoor Chronicles, Valentine Pontifex, Sorcerers of Majipoor and Lord Prestimion.

The examples mentioned in this article certainly do not exhaust all of the possibilites of the Science Fantasy subgenre. Fantasy readers that like a touch of science fiction in their books will like this blend. More works will be added in the future. So try a foray into the worlds of Science Fantasy.
