Review: Some Internet Fantasy Sites


The Internet is full of many sites devoted to the genre of Fantasy. Some are done by established groups and some by dedicated individuals. These sites have a blend of text, graphics and interesting touches with information on the genre. This article will cover a few sites that might be of interest to fans of Fantasy.

Readers of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series will find a lot to interest them at http://www.wheeloftime.org . All of the books in the series are summarized chapter by chapter. This is a help for those who want to refresh their memories when a new book is published. There is a section of art work and fan fiction. Creators of this site put a lot of effort into it. Some sections are still under construction, but it is worth visiting anyway.

Fantasy Today (http://www.fantasytoday.com) is a site of different sections about Fantasy. There are sections on writing, publishing and graphics. The main area of interest is their web magazine Fantasy, Folklore and Fairytales. Though it requires a subscription, the magazine has fiction and articles for Fantasy readers.

It's about King Arthur living in our near future. The writing is competent and descriptive with an interesting plot. Also, the site has informative links to myth, religion and writing. This site is not flashy with a lot of graphics, but is worth checking out.

For those who want information about Fantasy books and entertainment check out Fantastica Daily at http://www.mervius.com for it. Done in a frames format, the site offers book and move reviews, news in the upper frame and a daily entry by the site's creator. It's a good site for information on Fantasy worlds. The links on this page are interesting too.

There is a fascination for Celtic things in our present day. Many fantasy works are based on Celtic mythology. One site that shows this influence is Entrance to Celtic/Pagan World (http://glorianon.prohosting.com/celtic/o... It is done by a very creative person who has spent a lot of time creating this site. There are some nice graphics. Every page plays some Celtic music.

There are many other sites devoted to the Fantasy genre on the Internet. These sites can range from little content to magnificent creations of spectacular design. It can be hard to find something that matches your interests. Exploring the Internet can produce some gems. Good luck.
