Phantastes Journal

Phantastes Journal ("http://www.phantastes.com") is an on line journal with articles on the Fantasy genre. It is edited by Staci Ann Dumoski and comes out quarterly on the Internet. This journal has author interviews, articles on writing fantasy and the genre, and reviews of various fantasy media. There have been only two issues so far, but both have been consistent and interesting.

The author's interviews are in depth and insightful. In the most recent issue, the interview was with fantasy author Stephan Donaldson (Thomas Covenant books). Readers can learn about the author's inspiration and drive for writing fantasy. A person gains an understanding of this author's works. Another interview was with Fantasy writer Kate Elliot and her attention to details.

Other articles are about fantasy and writing fantasy. Aspiring writers can find articles to help them in writing fantasy stories or books. One recent article by writer Victoria Strauss talked about world building and the details writers need to consider. Naming of fantasy characters are discussed in another article. Fantasy articles have been about what fantasy is supposed to be and where the literature comes from.

The reviews of books, movies, Internet sites and other types of Fantasy media are competent and informative. You can discover new things to check out if you're wanting to try something different.

Phantastes is an excellent journal for lovers of Fantasy. It provides many items of interest for us. Check it out.
