The Seven Circles Trilogy by Douglas NilesMany authors of Fantasy create imaginative worlds to set their stories in. This helps bring characters to life and gives readers entertaining tales of adventure. The Seven Circles trilogy consisting of Circle At Center, Worldfall, and The Goddess Worldweaver by Douglas Niles is such a gripping story. The books are entertaining because of the action plots, interesting characters, and an unusual setting. Action plots of all three books keeps the reader hooked with hard to put down stories. The three plots are: Circle At Center begins with an Aztec warrior summoned to the Fourth Circle by a druid. He finds himself trying to create an army to defend the Worldweaver's tapestry from destruction. The Circle At Center faces an attack from an insane Templar knight and blind dwarves from the Underworld. In the second book, Worldfall, the Fourth Circle is threatened again by the death lord Karlath Fayd. He has created a storm that stretches from the realm of air into the Fourth Circle. New threats of Harpies, the blind dwarves again and a dragon are added to this book for more exciting action. The Goddess Worldweaver brings an unstoppable army of undead to the Fourth Circle. Characters from the previous books are faced with a losing battle to the end to protect the goddess Worldweaver's tapestry from final control, ending with some intriguing twists. Each of the books has a lot of action scenes described vividly by the author. Another strong aspect of the trilogy is the interesting characters. Natac is a warrior brought to the world of elves and other fantastic creatures. His beliefs are challenged, forcing him to change to the new conditions. He also must lead armies against dangerous enemies while worrying about the woman he loves. Miradel is the woman druid who brings him to her world to save it. She struggles with trying to save her world while having doubts about her beliefs. There are many heroic characters and plenty of love stories in the books. One touching couple are the dwarves Darann and Karkald from the First Circle. All of the characters are interesting, brought to life by the author's weaving of details into the characters' lives. Finally, an unusual setting makes the trilogy entertaining by the descriptions of different wonders. The Seven Circles are different worlds that touch each other. Our world is the Seventh Circle. Nayve is the Fourth Circle, the center of the seven worlds. It is a world of elves, centaurs, other fantasy creatures and druids, immortal humans from our world. In the center of this world exists the loom of the goddess who weaves the lives and destinies of all the worlds. Dwarves come from the First Circle or Underworld, which is a great cavern with different life forms. These and the other Circles interact in the story to provide new characters and unique magical systems though the majority of the action takes on Nayve. Mr. Niles creates a detailed, interesting setting for the three books.
