All Fantasy Team: QuarterbackIn continuing our look at the best fantasy football players this season, this week we take a look at the quarterbacks. While I believe running back to be the most important part of any fantasy team, many will tell you that a great quarterback ultimately determines that fate of your team. With a consistent passer, a fantasy owner can expect big numbers each week. Quarterback numbers are down this season, as many teams are going with their young signal callers. It will take a few years for any of these young players to make us forget the names of Elway, Marino, and Montana, but it will be exciting track their development. With out further ado, here is a look at the top quarterbacks for the 2000 season. 1) Daunte Culpepper, Vikings. Is he this good, or is it simply the system? Well, I am sure it is a little bit of both, but nobody could have predicted the kind of year Culpepper had this season. Culpepper, a second year player out of Central Florida, took over the starting quarterback job in Minnesota after not taking a single snap last season, and led them to the NFC Championship game. Blessed with a talented array of receivers and backs, Culpepper led the league in touchdown passes with 33, and rushing touchdowns for a quarterback with seven. Culpepper’s physical skills have never been questioned, but his ability to move in and put up the numbers he did, including 3937 yards passing, is simply incredible. Detractors will say anyone could put up some stats with players like Moss, Carter and Smith around him, but who cares. He was the best at his position this season, and will be a big star for years to come. 2) Jeff Garcia, 49ers. Garcia was another big surprise this season, and probably was not even drafted in most leagues. After spending time in the CFL early in his career, the 49ers gave him a shot last season. He played well enough to be named the starter this season and from there he took control of the offense. The 49ers had one of the most potent offenses in the league, thanks largely to the arm and legs of Garcia. He passed for 4278 yards and 31 touchdowns. In addition, he ran for four scores, making him a duel threat. Garcia will only get better, and having a target like Terrell Owens, he should continue to be a fantasy stud in the seasons ahead.
