Interesting week last week. We saw some players such as Shaun Alexander, Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez, and Rich Gannon put up some huge fantasy numbers. Having any one of those guys almost guaranteed you a win and having more than one assured it.
Let’s quickly jump into this week’s rankings… Quarterbacks 1. Drew Bledsoe – Oakland can be passed on and is giving up an average of 243 passing yards per game. Note however that this has been due largely because the Raiders have had huge leads on their opponents, forcing them to throw often. Still, with Charles Woodson out, Bledsoe is a great play. 2. Aaron Brooks – Brooks struggled a bit vs. Detroit last week with three turnovers. Look for him to rebound this week at home against the Steelers. He’s simply too fast for the Steelers “D”. 3. Rich Gannon – Gannon Ranks 2nd in the NFL averaging 333 passing yards per game. The balls will be flying around Buffalo like gnats on a hot summer day. Lots of offense between these two teams. 4. Peyton Manning – Manning becomes the latest player to take advantage of the simply awful Bengals. Export more passing from the Colts than previous Bengal’s opponents. 5. Trent Green – Boy, did this guy look great last week, or what? 5 TDs on a supposedly strong Miami defense. Green is notorious for being inconsistent, however. But, the Jets are in such disarray and their defense is 31st in the NFL. 6. Brett Favre – The Bears defense is falling apart from injuries and Favre now has two solid WRs with Glenn and Driver. It’s Monday night and Favre likes the spotlight. 7. Donovan McNabb – A decent game last week, but less than expected against the Texans. The Jags give up 222 passing yards per game and McNabb should have a bounce back game. 8. Tom Brady – Brady struggled for the first time this season against the Chargers. Then again, the Miami secondary was shredded by Trent Green. Which one breaks this week? Sleeper QB Pick Chad Pennington gets his first start for the Jets and what a way to start…against the NFL’s worst pass defense in the Chiefs. If you are really desperate, give him a try. Running Backs 1. Priest Holmes – Think he’s a good pick this week? The Jets are giving up 185 yards rushing per game and face a much better passing attack than they did with the Jags last week. Another big week for Priest. 2. Deuce McAllister – Quickly becoming one of the best all-around RBs in the NFL. With Donte Stallworth out, he’ll be more involved in the passing game as well.
