Week Two in Review

Before I review how my week two picks did, let’s cover some other notes…

It’s not yet to panic yet regarding the Rams. You don’t forget how to play offense that fast. The Rams machine may not be what it was a couple of years ago, but they’ll come around. No need to bench Warner, Faulk, Holt, or Bruce quite yet.

Just when you thought you had a strong defense with Pittsburgh they go out and give up 60 points in the first two games. Again, don’t panic. They played two of the top teams in the AFC in the Pats and Raiders. Things will get easier when teams like Cincinnati, Baltimore, Houston, Tennessee, and Carolina pop up on the schedule.

Now, let’s look at those week two picks…

Quarterbacks

I selected Duanted Culpepper as my top QB of the week and he did not disappoint. Culpepper passed for 283 yards, 3 TDs and also ran for another TD. Of my other top picks, Donovan McNabb, Aaron Brooks, Brett Favre, and Jeff Garcia all had multiple TD games. Only Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, and Shane Matthews were week two disappointments.

My sleeper pick was Mark Brunnell who had one of his best games in a long time with 320 yards passing and 2 TDs with no turnovers.

Running Backs

Marshall Faulk was my top pick here and did well with 123 total yards and two TDs. Of my other top 8 picks, Anthony Thomas, Deuce McAllister, and Ricky Williams all had good games on Sunday. Priest Holmes and Ahman Green had good yardage games but failed to score. Shaun Alexander and LaDanian Tomlinson had poor games and my sleepr pick, Jamel White was non-existent.

Wide Receivers

Randy Moss was my top pick and had a solid, but unspectacular game with 111 yards receiving and 1 TD catch. Of the other top picks, Marvin Harrison had a strong game with 144 yards and a TD, Jimmy Smith racked up 83 yards and a TD, and Kevin Johnson and Terrell Owens both scored but had low yardage games.

Joe Horn had 120 yards receiving but failed to score. Eric Moulds, David Boston, and Marty Booker were all week two disappointments. My sleeper, Amani Toomer had 92 yards but no scores.

Defenses

Well I was right now with my top two defensive picks. Tampa Bay shut-out the Baltimore Ravens 25 – 0, racking up two defensive scores, a safety, a blocked kick, and three sacks.
