Week Two Fantasy Player Rankings

© Tim Janson

Well…that was one helluva an exciting first week for the NFL. Great games throughout the league and lots of scoring meant big numbers for fantasy owners. With that said, let’s get right into my player rankings for week two.

Quarterbacks

1. Daunte Culpepper – Culpepper had a decent first week with one rushing TD and one passing TD against the tough Bear’s offense. This week, Culpepper has much easier prey with the Bills coming to town. Should be a huge game.

2. Brett Favre – The game against the Saints down in New Orleans should be a shootout. Both teams showed a weak passing defense the first week. Brad Johnson passed for 278 yards and two TDs against the Saints in week one. Expect similar numbers for Favre this week.

3. Aaron Brooks – Part two of the Saints – Packers shootout. Green Bay allowed Michael Vick 281 total yards and two TD’s. In Brooks, they face another strong-armed, elusive QB. The difference is that the Saints have far better WRs than the Falcons, and Deuce McAllister to boot. Expect close to 300 yards for Brooks and two to three scores.

4. Donovan McNabb – McNabb is going to have to throw the ball a lot to keep up with the Redskin’s high-octane offense. Expect a lot of yards, three TDs, but plan on an INT or two as well.

5. Kurt Warner – A big game for Warner and the Rams as the Giants come to town. Warner threw for over 300 yards against the Broncos but had no TDs and one INT. It seems as if teams are starting to figure out the Rams and look for them to try and put on a good show this week.

6. Shane Matthews – Matthews lit up the Cardinals for 327 yards and three TD passes in week one. The Eagles secondary is strong, but is hurting. The Titan’s Steve McNair threw for almost 300 yards and two scores against the Eagles in week one and there’s no reason to think that Matthews won’t have another big game.

7. Jeff Garcia – The 49ers passing game got off to a slow start in week one against the Giants. Chalk that up to the early Thursday night start. I expect both Garcia and Terrell Owens to get back on track this week against the Broncos.

8. Peyton Manning – Manning has not had his best games against the Dolphins and has lost 5 straight games against them. Still, he has performed better at home and it looks like the Colts have a very solid No. 2 QB in Qadry Ismail.
