Top Fantasy Plays for Week 1Running Backs 1. Marshall Faulk – The stats say that Denver’s rushing defense is among the league’s best. They gave up only 9 rushing TDs in 2001. Still, this is Marshall Faulk and he may end up hurting the Broncos more as a receiver than as a runner. 2. Ahman Green – It’s a great day to play your Packers against one of the NFL’s weakest defense. Green should gain a combined 150 yards and a couple of TDs 3. Curtis Martin – Martin averaged 150 total yards in the two games vs. the Bills last season. Enough said! 4. Fred Taylor – Taylor should be the Jags primary offensive weapon against the Colts on Sunday. Good thing, too, as the Colts ranked 25th against the run and gave up the second most rushing TDs in the league with 20. 5. Anthony Thomas – Thomas did not play against the Vikings last year so there’s no history. But, the Vikings had one of the league’s worst rushing defenses and gave up a league high 21 TDs. 6. Corey Dillon - The Chargers still have a strong rush defense, but Dillon always plays well at home. Expect a good duel between Dillon and Tomlinson. 7. Shaun Alexander – Alexander had his biggest game of the year against the Raiders with 266 yards. Don’t expect another 200 yard game, but Alexander will see the ball a lot and he’s too good not to get some yards and a score. RB Sleeper Pick – Jamal Lewis may not be 100% yet, but he doesn’t have to be as he goes up against the very worst rushing defense in 2001 in the Carolina Panthers. Maybe the best game to play Lewis all year. The Panthers are horrible and their defense will be on the field for a long time. Wide Receivers 1. Marvin Harrison - If Manning is the best QB pick, then Harrison is the best WR play this week against the God-awful Jags secondary. 2. Tory Holt – Ditto for Holt and Warner vs. Denver’s secondary 3. Randy Moss – The fact is, that the fearsome Bears defense was actually pretty horrible against the pass in 2001. But here’s the key---while they gave up 229 yards per game in the air, they only allowed a league-low 12 TD passes. But Culpepper and Moss will get two on Sunday. 4. David Boston – Washington’s secondary is tough, but these teams will have the ball in the air at least 70 – 80 times combined. Expect Boston to have
