Scheduling Some Help

This late in the Fantasy Basketball season, there are few moves to be made personnel wise. In fact, many leagues have already ended trades or drop/adds.

Now, it's just a matter of managing your own team.

For those of you who can make daily or weekly changes in your rosters, that can only mean schedule watching. Trying to squeeze out that extra game or two from a position or trying to find favorable matchups in key weeks.

There are three factors you need to look at when it comes to scheduling.

First, home/away. Players and teams tend to perform better at home than on the road. Therefore, if you have an decision between two roughly equal players, take the one with more home games.

The second is a subdivision of the first. That is the extended road trip. For East Coast teams it's either the Texas swing or the West Coast swing. Vice-versa for West Coast teams. You want to avoid players on these road trips, especially near the ends of them due to the road factor as well as the fatigue factor.

Finally, there is the matchup factor. You want your players on the floor against the dregs of the NBA every chance you can get. Bad defensive teams mean better numbers for your players. So, it doesn't hurt to see who the Clippers, Bulls, or Wizards are matching up with when making out your lineup.

Here's some (not exhaustive) research along these lines:

New York Knicks: March 26-April 2 a West Coast swing versus Portland, Sacramento, Seattle, Vancouver and the Lakers.

Orlando Magic: March 22-April 9 8 game homestand versus Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Boston, New Jersey, San Antonio, New York, Philadelphia.

Philadelphia 76ers: March 26-April 2nd. 5 game road swing versus Indiana, Minnesota, Utah, Lakers, and Sacramento.

Denver gets the Clippers three times and the Wizards twice from now until the end of the season. 15 road games left with only 9 home dates however.

Washington Wizards: March 20-25th: West Coast trip to Clippers, Denver, Sacramento and Dallas

Charlotte Hornets: March 7-10th West Coast swing with Golden St. Sacramento and the Clippers on tap.

Cleveland Cavaliers: March 21-25th Texas swing versus Minnesota, Dallas and San Antonio

Detroit Pistons: March 8-17th Homestand versus Denver, Vancouver, Portland, Boston, Orlando and the Lakers. Then Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento and the Clippers on the Left Coast from March 19th to the 25th.

Indians Pacers: March 17th to the 26th at home against the Rockets, Hornets, Knicks, Bucks and 76ers.
