Elfwood© Evelyn Keys
If you have never heard of elfwood, I'll have to ask you exactly what sort of fantasy and sci-fi fan you actually are.
Click on the elf, and go straight in, do not pass GO. Once inside you will have access to some of the best artwork around. It's not just covers of books you've read, you're likely to find many amateurs who are putting their work out there for us to see, and make comments about. It is an immense site, viewing every piece there is almost an impossibility. I find it best and easiet to click on the link to new additions to get started. You'll get a feel for what sort of art is out there, both the fantasy and sci-fi. As well as that you can take a glimpse of the work of some of the newly added writers. Here, though, I'm going to focus on the artwork. The guided tours are also useful. I'm big on the guided tours, because you can get a feel for the place and get used to navigating through quickly - http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/tours/tour... The problem here is choosing a guided tour to take. As of writing this there are 154 guided tours to take - argh! Right now I'm going to take the 134th tour which is - Dark facets of Elfwood. One click and you're there. The tour guide gives you a description of what the painting is about. Some of the pictures are missing, which is a huge annoyance, especially when things are taking a long time to load. Beware gentle viewer there is tonnes of nudity. Many don't pay much heed to nudity in artwork, but there are some that are offended, and I'll take this chance to warn them, the site doesn't. If your tastes tends towards the more technical science fiction type there is always Zone47. There is fantastic arrays of artwork that will definitely appeals to the sci-fi fan. Cyborgs, aliens, spaceships and everything in between grace these pages. It's definitely worth a look, and with 543 Artists, 6044 Pictures, you might be there longer than you thought. I stumbled into elfwood not too long ago, and have used it frequently since. I've heard that there will be no more pictures added however because elfwood has now run out of room. Hopefully that will be remedied and they will continue putting up the marvellous work that is unique to elfwood. Go To Page: 1
