Tiger Burning Bright

Tiger Burning Bright is the story of three generations of strong-willed, dynastic women defending a city about to be crushed by a conquering emperor, each one providing a unique capacity to persevere against unbearable odds. These skillful Tigers; Adele the Dowager Queen, Lydana the ruling Queen, and Princess Shelyra the Designated Daughter, have been forced into an untenable corner. Their only hope to reclaim the city is to fight from the shadows, donning camouflage that the evil necromancer Apolon and the Emperor Balthasar will struggle to pierce.

With three legendary, bestselling authors; Marion Zimmer Bradley, Andre Norton, and Mercedes Lackey, I expected an outstanding novel. I was stunned by shallowness. Tiger Burning Bright offered a plot with ample possibilities, a world of rich beliefs, and heroines and foes with solid foundations that just never matured. I plodded through this dull book. Never developing a care for the city and its inhabitants; I was not impressed with the lead characters, and found the contrived motivations of the supporting cast tedious. I was disappointed by Tiger Burning Bright. I expected a novel created by such outstanding authors to be a sure fire hit. Instead it was a flickering flame in need of a real tiger's fierce spirit.
