You Can't Recycle Time!Have you ever stopped to think that almost everything in this world that is lost can be regained. Industry and economy can rebuild wealth. If you forget what you learned in school you can study and re-gain that knowledge. Lost health can often be renewed with medicine and physical therapy. Time however, is not a renewable resource. As Spencer W. Kimball said "Time cannot be recycled. When a moment is gone, it is really gone. Wise time management is really wise management of ourselves". There are many ways that you can take advantage of every moment given to us. UTILIZE TRAVEL TIME Business people have increased their work time by using cell phones to set up meetings or finalize plans. Even if you are not a business person a cell phone can help make wise use of your time in cheering up a sick neighbor or arranging carpool. Although I do not have a cell phone right now, I utilize travel time by taking my mail with me to pick up kids from school. While I wait for the kids I open and prioritize the correspondence, pay the bills or balance the checkbook. Consider using travel time to listen to CD's that teach scripture learning, foreign languages or worthwhile books on tape. A wide variety of audio books are available from your local library. DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS Waiting in a doctors office can often seem like a waste of valuable time. Bring your journal to write in or use this time to document who, what, where, and when, on the back of a packet of family pictures. Carry thank you notes with you and use the time to show gratitude to the important people in your life. This is also a prime opportunity to read to a child...spending time with children is never wasted time! CARRY A DAY PLANNER Use a day planner, index cards or sticky notes -whatever you use to plan your day - keep your planning guide close at hand so you can set goals and check up on them throughout the day. Your "To-Do" list should be prioritized in number of importance. This acts as the string around your index finger - your constant reminder that time is important! EARLY TO RISE Did you know that getting up just 30 minutes early can give you one hundred and eight-two hours a year more. Time to ponder, set goals, organize your day and accomplish your goals! Taking this extra thirty minutes can help you to start your day off on a positive note.
