Electronic Gadgets: Savior or TroubleMaker

Along the same line of thinking, have a selection of games or cds. In this way, no one has to share or wait for another child to finish playing to trade. Furthermore, when the game gets difficult or the cd boring, your child has another choice. This increases the viability time of these electronic devices.

Make sure your child has a good set of headphones so that you will not be inundated with sound. Nonetheless, have rules about sound levels, even the best headphones still leak some sound when turned on full blast.

Above all have lots of extra batteries. I like to give each child two sets of rechargeable batteries to put in his or her backpack. Then he or she is responsible for recharging his or her own batteries each night. Furthermore, this reduces the arguments about who used up the batteries.

Personal electronic devices may be quite helpful during a long trip as long as you try to reduce potential problems. Nonetheless, have a few backup plans such as snacks; plenty of rest and stretch stops; favorite books; and a few car games.
