Fisher-Price Ready for School Preschool

Most children love the circus. That is the reason the Fisher-Price Ready for School Preschool program quickly became one of my daughter's favorites!

There are two things parents will enjoy about this program. The first is the skills matrix which shows you the skills a typical preschooler will learn and which ones your child has experienced while using this software. The second is that you can change the level of difficulty to adapt the software to their learning needs. This is extremely important to me so that my child doesn't become overwhelmed.

The one thing I personally miss about this program is that there are not printouts that coincide with the activities. However, this is not a necessity for your child.

There are ten activities for your child's learning adventure. Here are eight short descriptions:

Roaring Rhythms with Rumba the Ringmaster. Music and rhythm are important to a preschooler and here are six songs to listen to as well as a video to go along with it. This teaches numbers, ABC's, days in the week and more.

Hide-and-Seek with Ollie Ostrich teaches your child colors, shapes, differences, matching and more by asking your child to find things she requests. When your child correctly finds the items she will get to feed Ollie and her baby some snacks.

Counting Cookies with Ella Elephant teaches counting and matching. The reward here is that your child can decorate her own cookie when she is finished.

Dressing the Clown Bears will show your child how to sort, think and be creative.

[circus1.tif]Sorting Shapes with the Circus Seals has your child learning about sorting, same and different, colors and shapes. When all the shapes are balanced your child can feed the seals.

Peek-a-Book with Karlee Kangaroo will show your child how to listen and match sounds that animals and musical instruments make. Listening skills and memory are enhanced in this game.

Your preschooler will learn nursery rhymes and daily routines as well as sequencing in Mixed-up Pictures with Penelope Pony. There is a cute reward on this game that your child will enjoy!

[circus2.tif]Clean up Every Bunny, Every Hare teaches memory skills and responsibility. It would be great if this would actually carry over into my house! It teaches your child how to put everything back into it's proper place. Then your child can feed carrots to the baby bunnies.

I recommend this program highly. Great fun and animations to keep your child intrigued.
