Family Vacations. Are they worth the effort?

Listening to music is a joy also. We have tapes for all ages and the kids like it when Mom and Dad will sing along with their kid tunes. We've even gotten used to listening to LeAnn Rimes over and over (our daughter's favorite). When we listen to the kids' tunes, it makes it easier for them to listen to our stuff. They don't mind listening to the Bee Gee's or Journey or my taste of country, Sawyer Brown (all six CDs!). We love to listen and sing along at the tops of our lungs with the windows rolled down as we roll on down the highway.

If you are planning a big trip to have your family get a feel of the big wide country or just to see new sites, you must check out this web site. Family Camping. - it's fantastic at finding family vacation sites. Don't be fooled by the name of the site when it comes up as Kidscamp. It has great ideas for family getaways for any region that you want to check out or even if you want to stay close to home. In fact we tried one out a few years ago; the Idaho region of Hell's canyon. It was a whitewater jetboat up the Salmon River into Hell's canyon. It was very educational about the Indians in that region. The petroglyphs were amazing, but this was also very fun for the family to just get away from the phones, the friends and all the home stuff. It took two weeks for us and it's probably the most talked about vacation we've ever done (so far!), just wait until we hit Europe in five years! Save those pennies!

So, I will say YES! The vacations are worth it, even if you feel overworked and underpaid in the travel area. It's the memories that count and the photos are there to prove it.

Dan,
I agree that YES, someday I'll get there and beable to enjoy just my husband and I, but in the time being, I'll just be happy with our band of bickering and aruging. It only last for a few year ...

My brother and his wife (no kids) had another game for license plates: College courses. TLY 124 ... Let's see ... the Department is "Thinking and Living Yuppie." The 1 indicates a first-year cours ...

Great article as usual. We will be embarking on our own vacation soon-the license plate game is just right for our brand of looniness.
