Back to school time has hit once again. It seems we just had the out of school, beginning of summer parties and overnight we are right back where we left off; shipping our loved ones out the door off to learn and grow for another year.
The front door slams behind us as we pile into the car. The engine roars to life and I step on the gas as the last child buckles up for safety as we fly down the road. Every day we are off for an adventure; the school adventure. What stories will the kids bring home tonight? What will our conversation around the dinner table be this year? Possibly, the new cute boy who sits by my daughter in class or better yet, the great fun she had in math class learning all those cool algebra numbers. But of course, my son will soon change the conversation to the lizard he found on the playground. What a time of life it is for these kids. They grow up too soon around us. As they reach another age and advance to another grade I want them to remember the joys of their childhood and the joys of being young. To begin this new year out I want my children to have a special prayer said in their behalf. A prayer just for them to know how special they are in our lives and a prayer for this new school year. We help them remember how bright they are even in times of discouragment, remembering they are never alone if they have the faith in themselves to answer the questions their teachers pose to them. They'll never be alone when they know I support them as a parent and we are here when they need an extra boost from the outside pressures of the world. Teaching our children, no matter their age, that they are of worth, that they are somebody will give them the courage to stand up for themselves. They will have that extra bit of self esteem to stand tall among their peers. This new school year will bring many new twists and turns down the road, but we will handle each curve with the bond of a family. We are here for good; we are here to stay. Every ad that we receive in the mail or watch on TV reminds us it's fall time again. Time to begin that school shopping ritual again. Time for the football games, time for the cheerleaders cheering for that school support and school spirit. Time for clothes that last a few months before it's time to buy new ones. Time to stock up on paper, pencils, erasers, rulers, crayons, markers, colored paper, art supplies, scissors; (say that all in one breath). Go To Page: 1 2
