Spring has sprung, the flowers are out in full bloom and the kids are swinging in the backyard. It’s a picturesque moment as you drink your special drink of the morning (a cup of hot cocoa, thank you) and looking out your kitchen window brings a smile to your face. The smile fades as reality hits and your turn your gaze to the stack of boxes that's piling higher and higher in every corner of your home. The ball in the pit of your stomach churns ‘round and ‘round and your realize the task at hand is trying to pack those boxes with only fifteen days until this wonderful home of yours turns ownership and the big move is on. This was your dream as your husband approached with the idea of taking a new job, in a new city, with a new home and a new life. Excitement spread through the family, until the actual day came to pick up and move. It’s stressful and yet refreshing with the thought of heading to a new place and a new start.
Moving with children can be even more stressful as they fret and worry about their comfort zone and if things will be fun. A child’s life is centered around their playing and if they will have fun. Helping to make a move less stressful can do worlds of wonder for your little ones. Every age group is affected by the move. Their attitudes will help yours as you pick and choose through closets filled with ten years worth of living. Talk it over as a family and get a family plan of what each person can contribute to your move. Each person needs to be involved and feel involved as this move is for the whole family. Making games and having fun during the move can help cheer everyone as you leave loved ones and many friends while you venture into the wide world to a new frontier. Family animals need to adjust to the move and helping them ease into it will help the little children as well. Moving can be a stressful time for everyone involved, but as a family you can make this move fun and eventful, full of surprise and amazement as you watch your little ones come alive as you round the bend to your new home and your new life.
