Spring Is HereSpring is in the air. Smell it, taste it, touch it. The flowers are in bloom and the colors are wonderful. It seems to have been such a long and cold winter. The feel of the warmth of the sun on your back can be such a refreshing feel. Since spring has sprung, it's time to think of taking the kids on a short vacation to see the sights all around us. Show them spring all around your area. Show them sights, the sounds, the smells of Spring. Treat yourself to all of it. First things first before you head on out. Have a plan. It always a good idea to have a plan of attack. Where do you want to go and where do the kids want to go? Just around the block or over the river and through the woods? Open up the discussion and get a general idea of what the whole family wants AND what the budget can afford. After the family discussion it might be realized that two seperate vacations are in order; one for the kids and one for the parents. Wouldn't that be a dream, but this is the family vacation and it's time to plan some FUN. Once that is decided upon it's time to think of needing to secure the area and thwart any evil while you are gone. Batton down the hatches (as the in-laws say when they ask if they when is a good time to visit)is a priority. Taking care of things while you are gone will make the trip easier on the mind for you when you know your home is secure. Plan to have fun and have fun while planning a family vacation. When is a good time for the family vacation? NEVER! That mumble is heard around the world. Take charge and plan ahead anyway. Vacations do wonders for the soul, they do wonders for the family soul. They are the memories that families are made of. Even if it's a short weekend trip, it is the memory of spending time as a family that will be cherished. It will be the memory of uncle Joe losing his false teeth as he laughed so hard at one of dad's jokes or it's the time that Grandma wore one black shoe and blue shoe because she didn't want to wake the vacationers with light on while she searched her closet for a pair of matching shoes. It's the memories of being together as a family and reveling in the company of the ones who love you unconditionally.
