So, as we try to catch a glimpse of them running around our backyard we celebrate the whole month in the process. We have Irish blood lines and we talk about our heritage with pictures of our Irish ancestors and the stories of ghosts and little fairies they passed on down to us. The scary stories are toned down a wee bit for the younger children, while the ghost stories are saved for the older ones to read before they head to bed! (oh, we love to have fun.)
We're trying a new recipe this year called "Blarney Stone cookies". As you eat the cookies you are kissing the Blarney stone and just might get that special gift that is bestowed on those who have the opportuinity to Kiss the Blarney Stone. One of these days I'm going to have the chance to kiss the real mccoy, but until that day these little cookies will just have to do.
We are passing down through the family line the fun we have this time of year of celebrating our Irish history with the story of St. Patrick and where it all began. My children know of thier family that came from Ireland and the love they had of that great land. It warms the heart to have them wear green on the special day to save them from getting pinched.
We know the Leprechauns will visit our house this year because we believe and my kids know that if we believe they will come for sure. You can count on it. I'm hoping they stick around a wee bit longer than just one day.
