Thanksgiving season is upon us. Autumn is in full swing with the pumpkins left over from Halloween just waiting to be made into pumpkin pie or pumpkin soup or better yet, roasted pumpkin seeds.

Autumn is a favorite time of year as the leaves turn colors and crunch under our footsteps. The sweaters and jackets are shaken out as they are taken out of summer storage to wear to the football games where the cheers from the crowd can heard as we sip on our hot cider to keep toasty warm. The smell of fires burning in the chimneys is in the air. The Thanksgiving season is once again upon us.

What does your family know of the first Thanksgiving? When was Thanksgiving first implemented into our society? Who thought of it and why? Was it really the pilgrims? Does the world celebrate it or just the United States? Take the Thanksgiving quiz to see just how much you really know,(or don't know as in my case!)

Here you'll find the Thanksgiving story to read to your children just as you read the Christmas story to them. Thanksgiving is a season to think about the past and all that you are thankful for. It's the one season you can reflect on all you have been given and be grateful for all you have, truly grateful for what you have been blessed with. It's a wonderful time to be alive.

Have a thankful Thanksgiving with your family and ponder on what you might do to enjoy this season of the family.
