Smile! You're On Candid Camera

It's vacation time and the sound of a million camera lens fluttering fills my ears. We are standing in a tourist spot and the flash from camera bulbs gives us a blinding effect. Now we are waiting in an hour long line just to have a picture taken with those babies from Rug Rats. I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Ah! The joys of family vacations. Dirty laundry piles high in the motel room along with fast food bags that are strewn on the floor. What I wouldn't give for just some homemade bread with raspberry jam, but this is the life for my kids at the moment. This is their summer memories to be explored and photographed for generations to come.

Each of the kids wanted their own camera this year to capture their idea of vacation. It's been amazing to see just what pictures they've shot and what to them means vacation. We are on the annual trip to Utah and Idaho to visit family and friends, but this time we are taking our time and enjoying the scenery as we pass by. Three weeks should be plenty long for them to get their vacation memories captured on film.

As we pull in the driveway at our final destination, HOME, the kids run through the house eager to get on with their fun filled summer as just being kids at play. Their cameras are still in hand as they take their final pictures of us unpacking the car and smiling at the thought of being in our own beds tonight and having a home cooked meal.

It's been a fun vacation; one to remember and cherish as we spent days with cousins and friends we don't see often. The cameras they've kept in tow will capture every moment that was important to them and every picture will be a memory they'll cherish for life.

A picture is worth a thousand words especially to a child who had the opportunity to take his own pictures and make his own memories with his very own camera.
