The Sun Is Shining

© Cindy Ovard

I look out the window early in the morning as the sun is just peaking over the eastern mountain. I sip my morning cup of orange juice and smile at the thought of the kids playing outside today. Maybe I can get some writing done as they play or maybe I'll join them for a day of fun in the sun.

It's summer and the sun is hot where we live. My first thought of playing in sun is how much sun is safe and how much a sunburn will hurt tomorrow. We don't want to burn in the sun, but we do want to spend the whole day in the sun if we are at the beach or at the pool. It's just a matter of sunblock and what strength to use. Sun Safety is utmost in my mind. I do the sun safety research and learn line upon line.

It's important to have fun together and have fun while we play outdoors this summer. Sunscreen is our mainstay, our skin is important. To hear the cry from a sunburned child takes my breath away. Sunburns are painful and can ruin the rest of your vacation. Heat Strokes are even worse, especially for a little child.

This summer have fun and enjoy your family time outdoors. Summer time is most enjoyable out in nature. Teaching our children to respect nature and what happens if we don't respect it can be a tough lesson to learn.

Protect your family outdoors and have the best summer yet. Your family photo albums and memories will be made this summer. Enjoy and be Safe.
