It's almost that time again. The countdown is almost over. The little paper chains the kids made in school are almost gone and the kids are sqealing with delight in anticipation for that one day when Santa will visit.
On Christmas Eve we sit down as a family with a big bowl of popcorn and a glass full of soda. We flip the VCR on and watch "The Nutcracker". It's become a tradition for my kids to watch. Our favorite scene is the Sugar Plum dance. The music is Christmas. We love it.
The next thing on our list is getting the kids ready for bed and as we get ready to tuck them in so they can have vision of those sugar plums dancing in their heads, we read the biblical account of Christ's brith. The real reason we celebrate Christmas that the world just seems to forget about.
The kids are in bed, the house is straightened and I can finally sit down and relax with my hot cup of cocoa and cookies in hand. This is the night we have been working up to for the past six weeks. It's here and I'm so glad.
