Tis The Season of The Family

This is the season... I want to break into song right here, but I'll spare you.

CHRISTMAS

It's one of my favorite times of year. Not for the presents, but for the spirit it brings to my home and the spirit it brings to my neighborhood. The baking, the shopping (yes, I do brave the stores), the decorations, the music, the smells of fresh cut trees and last, but not least, the picture of children sitting on Santa's knee. It's the sights at Christmas time that I think I love the most.

As a family each year a tradition that we have is Christmas caroling to each of our neighbors as we pass out our homemade treats. It's fun to have them say to us at the beginning of December how much they are looking forward to our caroling and how it helps brighten their Christmas with a little neighborly cheer. My children love to sing and we even get Dad to join in and have his male voice added with ours.

I've been looking for different craft ideas this year, not because I want to save money on Christmas gifts for others, but because I feel a gift that is made is more special and more precious than one you can just buy at the store. More time and effort has gone into it. Robin, of the Christmas site is one of the best sites I've seen this year. She gives some great gift ideas and some great craft ideas for the kids. I am truly impressed with her work. It's a family fun page. Check out every page you see, it's worth it.

I also wanted to be kept up to date with what was new for the last year of the 1900s before we move on to 2000.

And as the ever-loving Mom who loves to create webpages for my kids and my family, this site has some great Holiday graphics and clipart that the kids can pick and choose to make their own pages have their own touch (even though I'm the webmaster).

So, as this season rolls around once again. Take control of it and enjoy it. Don't let it control you. Enjoy this whole season with your family and let them enjoy it with you. Put them in charge of decorating their own rooms and see how creative they can be. I've given mine free rein with a table top Christmas tree in each of their rooms. They decorate it to their hearts delight. It's our kids free reign creativity at its best!
