Halloween can be a scary time for young children, but if we do it the right way we, as parents, can turn this around and make it a fun time for our children. It's not just Halloween, but it's the time of year. Fall is here with harvest parties and autumn leaves falling on the ground. Let your kids enjoy this wonderful time of year.
The History of Halloween is important so the kids can find out just what it is and why it started. There is no need to be scared of it. Even the history of the Pumpkin is interesting and fun for the kids to learn. I'm not one for big and expensive costumes for my children. I like to stick to simple, easy to make things. They don't have to look homemade just because they are made from old leftover material I have laying around. They can be simple, fun and look GREAT. Also great Adult ideas for the kid in all of us. For those of us who love to decorate the house there are many things to think about. Many crafts to spruce up the house and yard with yard art. We take the first day of October and dig out all our Halloween decor from the attic. It's like Christmas for my kids as they open each box and discover the decor they had forgotten from the previous year. I don't save the costumes though, those are for the kids to enjoy all year long. For all of you big die hard Halloween fans there is so much out there and so much fun to have. It doesn't have to be spooky or scary, but fun and entertaining. And for those of you who want to stay away from the Halloween theme, try a Harvest theme. Have an Autumn dance or an Autumn party or a Harvest festival with carnival to boot. It's the time of year that is important and the fun times to be had by you as a family. Enjoy life and let your kids enjoy you.
