What is that noise I hear

The sound is deafening with no relief in sight. The crowd surges to the right as they watch the bomb thrown. This is what they have come to witness. This is what they have been waiting for all week.

IT'S FOOTBALL, BABY

It's truly football at its best. I know, I know, I should be included in with the jock columns this week. But hey! I'm writing about family things and what can be done for family fun. My solution? Sports. Football, to be more particular. If you can't take your family to the sporting arena's then take the arenas to your family.

I'm a football nut and I'm raising my children (and my husband) on football. We are biased toward the San Fran 49er's. Watching them play is like that bowl of warm, toasty oatmeal on a chilly morning. It's like a shirt straight out of the dryer. It's fun and it's exciting. These are the fun days of life. These are the moments to relish in with your family. Show them you can have fun and you can act like a kid again. I give you permission because "It's Football season."

I am amazed at how I am so into football. I'm a girl, for crying out loud. Girls aren't suppose to like those kinds of things. Girls aren't suppose to make their husbands widowers on Monday just because the game is on. Well, it's OK, because I sit down and watch it with my kids. They get a kick out of watching me. I want them to have some fun, crazy memories of me doing and watching something I love. I know football is a tough, mean, grueling sport. But I love it anyway. I laugh, cheer, jump and cry all the while my kids have that strange look on their faces, like I'm a Martian or something like that! Can you imagine that?

I want my kids to see that I can enjoy sports. I grew up on sports. I grew up attending all different kinds of sports, but found football and baseball are my two most favorite. I want my children to enjoy a variety of sports and be active. I won't push them or drive them to do it unless they want too, but I do want them to know I will support them in their games and their decisions.
