History is a great way to have fun with your family. There are many ways to have fun with history.
Your own family history is a good place to start. Getting the family photo albums out and sharing the pictures is a great way for your entire family to get to know one another. My kids love looking at my personal photo album when I was just their age. It puts into perspective that I was once a kid too. Imagine that! You don't have any photo albums you say? Well, it's not too late to start. This link is from an editor here at Suite 101 who gives great ideas on how to start with scrapbooks and photo albums. It's just perfect for you because everyone loves looking at themselves, especially children. My kids love to get their personal video tapes out and watch them. They sit on the floor and giggle and laugh at the TV while they watch how little they once were (even at the age of four they laugh at things they did while they were two). Family photo albums make a great family history and a great way to spend a family evening together. Not just family history, but American history is important for them to learn and grow from. Indian history, black history, even dinasour history can be fun. History in itself is a story. Most states have their own web pages designed for information. Use Alta Vista or another search engine to find your states history. Natural history can be a great learning tool. This cool site is a mystery site, but also gives clues at the history of mysteries. I found this next site one of the best for history for kids and all ages. The History Channel on cable is wonderful, but their Internet site is wonderful and their biographies of people is awesome. Genealogy is fun also. OOPS! Did I really say that awful, boring word? Well, I love it and have been hooked on it for about five years now. My best days are days when my kids can look at a picture of their great, great, great grandfather and know him by his picture and know a little about his life and what made him the man he was. He isn't just a name on a piece of genealogy paper. He comes alive. He really was someone that lived and breathed. Go To Page: 1 2
