Save Some Money at the Grocery StoreCoupons are a common way to save money at the grocery store. If you are a couponer, you may want to check out Valupage.com for some coupons that earn you points to be used to purchase other items. I have checked out this site but they don't offer a grocery store near me that I frequent. Here are some of the other things we do to keep our food bill down. We buy only what is on the list (usually). This is much easier to do if you don't go grocery shopping while hungry. We bring cash and only purchase what we can buy with the amount of money we brought. Be realistic though, you may want to be sure you can get your grocery bills under your budgeted amount for several weeks before you go to this extreme. We purchase as many store brands as possible, as they are usually a better buy. I don't think it's possible to tell the difference between a store brand and a name brand item most of the time and I've read that some store brands are actually manufactured by brand name companies. The only exception I have found to this so far is generic liquid fabric softener. I haven't been happy with the results when I use this. Finally, we really try to go to the grocery store only once a week. This saves money as well as time in busy schedules.
