The A-Word: Applique


If you've got lots of time and patience, you can, of course, appliqué by hand, picking up a couple of threads of the appliqué and a couple of the background. Again, think about whether you want to use a contrasting or a matching thread, and initially iron the turn-in or pin it down before you start.

An good source of appliqué designs are stencils, of which there are plenty of free ones on the Internet to print out, such as these African stencils.
