The book is usefully organised by technique: painting, stamping & printing, tie-dye, batik, marbling and screen printing. The practical instructions for each of these techniques is given before a colourful gallery of t-shirts made using that technique. Each t-shirt has a paragraph or two describing the inspiration behind it or giving a detail of the technique used, which creates a feeling of the designer really wanting to share their work with the reader. -Unlike many books, this one encourages you to duplicate the designs or use them as jumping off points for you, rather than issuing a warning about design copyright and intellectual property and the like.
Everyone modelling a t-shirt in the book either works at the publisher, Lark Books, designs projects for them or is related to someone who works there. While the cynic in me says the publisher did this to save spending money on professional models, the romantic in me enjoyed reading the captions to find out who the people were and hopes that the publisher passed on this saving in the retail price.
If you've got any degree of creative desire, this is a great book to get you started and keep you going!
