January the 1st traditionally means drawing up a list of New Year's Resolutions. I think the secret of a successful list is to include a few things you truly wish you could motivate yourself to do, along with a few "easy" resolutions that you can check off on your list to create that feeling that you're getting somewhere. Here are some suggestions:
In 1999 I resolve to:
- Tidy up my fabric stock, sorting it into large and small pieces.
- Divide these two piles up by colour and value.
- Sort out all my half-done projects.
- Decide which ones I will finish and recycle or redesign the ones I definitely won't.
- Look through my pile of magazines and cut out the articles I wish to keep/read and to throw the rest in the paper recycling bin.
- Not enter my local fabric shop unless I really need something.
- Hunt out fabric shops whenever I'm in a town I've never been to before.
- Make at least one item that's not a teddy bear to donate to a good cause this year.
- Try a new idea or technique every other month.
- Visit the Suite 101 Fabric Crafts site regularly and let the contributing editor know of any subjects/items I'd particularly like covered.
Best wishes for a creative 1999!
