Costa Rican Temptation

I've decided to splurge since it is the holidays. Most of the travel deals I find reflect my own budget--I like to keep the entire trip under $1,000 if at all possible. And it is possible. I've found all-inclusive packages to fantastic places for what many would consider pocket change.

This travel episode is for those that have a little extra pocket change. I'm not talking about a $25,000 trip around the world, but I have decided to up my expense account this week. It will be worth it though, this trip has it all. So, cash in your extra change, pack your bags, and get ready for a Costa Rican adventure!

Sunny Land Tours is offering a 9-day Eco-Adventure in lush Costa Rica. I know, I know, the word Eco-Adventure is kind of scary. It sounds like you'll be auditioning for Survivor. Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for laying on the beach. But, if all you want to do is veg, this isn't the trip for you. You will be horseback riding, tree climbing, river rafting, and more.

The trip starts at $1859, which is extremely reasonable considering it is 9-days long. The package includes round-trip airfare from the US, a deluxe Tropical Suite at Hotel Tango Mar and accommodations at Alta Hotel, a lavish daily breakfast, a private bonfire on the beach, a three- course candlelight dinner, all your activities.....what more could you want?

Well, there is more. This trip has perks like I have never seen before. How about free t-shirts, a welcome cocktail, a welcome basket, and tropical flowers in your room? If your enticed, and I know you are, you will want to visit http://www.sunnylandtours.com/latamer/cr... for a day-to-day breakdown of the trip.

You'll stay at the Alta Hotel your first night. The hotel is located in the mountains of the exclusive Alto de Las Palomas district, above San Jose, and only 15 minutes from the International Airport. Visit the website at http://www.thealtahotel.com/alta.htm.

A day full of river rafting will lead you to Selva Bananito Lodge, where you will bunk in a private cabin. This family owned and operated hotel is also a private nature preserve. Visit http://www.selvabananito.com/photos.html to see some great photos of the surrounding area and rain forest activities.

Day 3 and 4 will be filled with some of the exciting activities you can see at the above website. You will take an introductory tree climbing class, do some horseback riding, and visit an organic banana plantation. You will then transfer back to San Hose and another night's rest at Hotel Alta.
