European Heritage Open Days is held throughout Europe on September 11-12. Chances are, if you're traveling in Europe during this time, you'll be in a participating country. What happens during this time is that historical and other buildings of interest, not normally opened to the public, will welcome visitors free of charge. It's a great opportunity to see places where visitation is normally restricted.
