Tom Cruise , Larry Fishburne and Batman -Writing for the Actor

feature this combination. Batman is a flawed character who attempts to correct what is wrong in Gotham's world. The venues remain the same Gotham city, Los Angeles, and New York. Even in the new "Batman Begins" the rage against the machine remains the same. Yet, Tom and Laurence acting pattern have remaind similar since 1983 and 1979 respectively.

Which takes us back to the role of the screenwriter. Perhaps, if you are lucky enough to take notes from Tom and Laurence in pre-production your job writing for the strong male lead will be easier. If not then I suggest you study their films. As a screenwriter one must project what the character should do not what the actor wants.

Why should they lay down their gun? If Tom Cruise, Laurence Fishburne and Batman set their gun down it would not be true to character, plot and story structure. Next month we return to the world of science fiction and creative film finance. Ciao.

PS And if you are a entertainment blogger keep writing despite Peter Bart's comments. As a friend said you don't need a degree to write for a major magazine. And that is a true statement.
