Even in the new "Batman Begins" the rage against the machine remains the same. Yet, Tom and Laurence acting pattern have remaind similar since 1983 and 1979 respectively.

Which takes us back to the role of the screenwriter. Perhaps, if you are lucky enough to take notes from Tom and Laurence in pre-production your job writing for the strong male lead will be easier. If not then I suggest you study their films. As a screenwriter one must project what the character should do not what the actor wants.
