Into the Shadows.

For years we in the western world have relied on our superior technology, super computers housed deep under ground scanning the air waves for a particular term or phrase, and that is just in our own back yards. However recent events have proved that these super computers that cost billions of dollars are unable to detect the most devastating of attacks, because the new enemy is not sitting in a super powers war room waiting the press the dreaded button that sets the world on fire, no the new enemy is agile and slippery like a snake in the desert, able to lye dormant waiting for the word to attack, be it a car bomb, shooting or hi jacking, we cannot defend ourselves in the conventional way against these maverick cells, who for all we know are already living in our countries under their real names! Having established a life in their new country under the cover of a small business or the like, and then the word comes, it may be by post, an add in the newspaper or by phone, but one thing is sure the message does not contain any of the trigger words or sentences that the super computers are scanning for, that’s how they can move around and attack by stealth.

So now it is back to the old days, agents will have to go “Into the Shadows” where the terrorists live. Agents will have to be re-trained in the old ways and those who were the experts will again find their particular skills of use again as the Government agencies whose responsibility is that of National Security get their budgets increased as to accommodate the new threat.

But can they really protect us all now? Have the terrorists gained an upper hand? And will thing ever be the same again? For us things will probably never be the same, we will always remember the 11th September 2001, mainly because it was so graphically screened over and over again on our television screens. Which of course was exactly what the terrorists wanted, everyone in the world seeing how destructively successful they had become. All this seems to be unlikely of such desert dwelling nomads who live in caves and have limited resources, in fact this attack was a well organised military operation, that could have had a even more devastating effect if the plans had gone off completely to plan, what if the White House or Capitol had been attacked or as unimaginable as it may seem Air Force One? The effect on the USA would have been even more devastating.
