Tools of Our Trade

When you are dependent on drivers, whether they are friends, family or some disabled ride service-don't sit around and WAIT!

If you have a job, bring your work with you. If you have a talent, explore it!

If you have, a hobby do it. Finish a project or learn a new one.

Go your local community center and find out what free classes are available to you, even if a small fee is involved. Community colleges offer disabled services that give you the magic ticket enabling you to have fun. Although you and I know we are ABLE, not disabled, take advantage of what resources are rightly yours. Practice learning something new and exciting instead of becoming bored.

If you are a spiritual person, pray for others, yourself, or the funding of brain research. Keep in touch with out-of-touch friends and family. You can do this through letter writing, on even the cheapest of paper. In addition, postcards are a inexpensive way to take advantage of small amounts of time that would be wasted otherwise. Moreover, the beauty of them is you can stay in touch and surprise someone you care about for no reason at all.

If you're a writer, and even if you haven't tried writing, bring pen or pencil and a cheap large notepad. You might discover a story, journal entry or other poetic piece of your soul.

Things That Make Your Life Without a Vehicle Happier

For travelling, these things make life more rewarding. It is not necessary by any means to own all of them, but they are like "feathers in your very smart cap"!

Bags are essential. Have many very sturdy assorted types depending on what you do. Make sure they have secure straps to handle weight. Which bag(s) will depend on how long you will be there, what other places you will be going, and the weather status. They are your trunks of your "car"!

Find yourself a sturdy cart on wheels; they make ones that look far from pathetic too. Many fold up into an easy-to-disguise miraculous thing that appears as though it is a suitcase! This is extraordinarily helpful for grocery shopping, multiple errands, and even boring things like carrying MRI and CT Scan films to a neurological consult!

Assets on Your Body and in Your Wallet Wallet- Although I don't get rewards from MedicAlert, they are the only medical emblem company that is internationally recognized. For practical purposes, I will use them as an example. Many other companies make medical emblems that aren't connected to accessing your private medical files though, which might be more affordable for your financial situation.
