TRANSITION FROM SAD TO JOY
MUSIC REPLACING BAD MEMORIES
The music playing on my CD player permeated sadness with joy via headphones and positive thoughts evolved. Useless memories were erased with every step I took so negativity was literally trailing behind me! MUSIC MASKING PARATRANSIT NOISE & CREATING A PLEASANT ENVIRONMENT Not to get too far off the main subject of noise diversions; Paratransit Service, known in some states as a Disabled Ride Service, is my "convertible in my driveway". It is always a mystery if my anticonvulsants will do what they were designed to do. I frequently cannot walk to a bus stop due to recurrent seizures. I mention this because in the Orange County, CA area it is highly inefficient causing the disabled community to pay its price with their lost time. This inadequate, under-funded service gets me to and from my destination on a prayer. An hour appointment can stretch to four or five! Busily working on projects concerning The Epilepsy Connection makes my time vanish. My time is no more important than yours. All that take Disabled Ride Programs please bring work, needlecrafts, a good book or something productive. Wasting time is something we cannot do. Do not wait; instead be productive. We are disabled people and do not deserve to be penalized twice. Paratransit is a regular part of most of the disabled community's life. The last plea on this subject will be anticipate the tremendous time that could be potentially wasted. Music can aid you in making your "waiting areas" more tolerable by helping you make the most out of an inherently bad daily situation. YOUR BAG ENTOURAGE My entourage of bags substitutes for my trunk in my nonexistent car. Obtaining a sturdy bag will enable you make use of time so you won't sit in a trance-like state waiting. Music drowns out the rattle and jolting of the poorly constructed Paratransit vans, making the ride a bit more aesthetically pleasing. (This is critical since the ride time can be quite long!) When Paratransit cannot provide service, and this happens frequently, I am forced to walk. Status simple partial seizures or not, walking is my only dangerous option. I'm concerned of passing out falling into traffic but letters need to be mailed and life goes on. Music replaces the rumble of traffic with semi trucks with pleasant sounds. MAKE YOUR OWN LIFE PRESERVER Music can create your own personalized, relaxing environment that can make the most of any imposed situation. Discover what music makes you feel the most relaxed, what styles give you the most energy. Use them to give you a needed boost if necessary. Music as a diversion in many instances has been my life preserver out in the storm called life. It could possibly be yours too. Go To Page: 1 2
