"There it is!"
"Where?" "What?!" he asked.
"Over there...up there," she insisted.
Funny how one person sees things that others miss and vice-versa:
My husband and I, having grown complacent and stagnate in our ten year
relationship, decided one morning to take our two dogs, Brookes and Rascal,
on an early morning run. Right there--through the tall trees--blazed the
orange ball of fire! It spoke volumes in power and loveliness at the same
time; it shouted to one of us, "Pay attention!" Yet, to the other, it
remained a golden silence.
Then I noticed the recently barren trees of winter months had the
embryo of a soon-to-be Spring: flowers; Easter; sweet sounds of God's chorus,
the birds; and the ever-graceful butterfly. The sky had those luminous rays
of shine through early morning clouds that have always reminded me of the
majesty of God! But he...he only saw the left-over ashes in the bar-b-que
pit; the trash on the ground; the cold on his fingertips; the TV he was
missing under the blanket
at home.
Since that walk in the early morning dew, I look for that ray of
shine to come through the clouds and have even photographed it on occasion. I
listen for those sweet sounds in the morning hours and have even fed the
bills from whence cometh such music. I try to remember that life is a gift
{not always will it be mine to take for granted}.
Now I cannot wait to go for that same walk come AUTUMN! I never much paid attention to nature until last summer. I had a bad science/art/plant teacher, and what can I say? I'm a city girl, and the only trees in Manhattan are in the parks, and they don't really count. I mean really! There is no nature in the city, and quite frankly, I'd never left it. So how can nature really count in a windowbox or coming up in grass blades
